Huo RF: Reflections On Ageing

This piece, co-published by Delfina Foundation and Art Unlimited, by artist Huo Rf outlines his research during his residency at Delfina Foundation in spring 2025. During his residency at Delfina Foundation, Huo Rf focused on deepening his exploration of ageing as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon. He investigated the societal, queer, and institutional perspectives on ageing, integrating these insights into his research. This culminated in a book club event on 2 May 2025 at Delfina Foundation, where participants shared their thoughts on the process of ageing. The text here outlines Huo’s reflections on ageing as well as quotes from participants from the event.

Leaning on Each Other; On Aging

The second edition of Huo Rf’s book club was organised in collaboration with Consciously Curated and took place at Kendisibir Mekan bookstore in Istanbul under the title “Leaning on Each Other; On Aging.” Following the first session held at Delfina Foundation, London, in May 2025, this gathering brought participants together to think collectively about ageing — its emotional, social, and communal dimensions — and to reflect on the ways we lean on one another throughout the process.

Organised as part of the parallel events of the 18th Istanbul Biennial, the session provided a space for shared reading, discussion, and exchange.

Working with Time; Huo Rf Book Club

Working with Time; Huo Rf Book Club took place on 19 December 2025 at Sakıp Sabancı Museum, organised upon the invitation of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum team and inspired by Suzanne Lacy’s exhibition Birlikte/Togæther, which foregrounds women’s lived experiences and processes of ageing.

Conceived in parallel with the exhibition’s feminist and participatory artistic approach, the book club invited participants to bring books selected from their personal archives, offering diverse perspectives on ageing and living with time. Through shared reading and conversation, the gathering opened a collective space for reflecting on personal narratives and experiences of ageing.
